To scent or not to scent...
At Toadily Handmade we choose not to scent our beeswax candles. Beeswax has a natural scent to it that comes from things like honey, nectar, and pollen collected from flowers in the surrounding environment. Specific scents come from floral compounds and essential oils that remain in the wax after it has been processed.
The scent varies depending on factors such as where the bees are geographically, which plants they are pollinating, environmental factors, and how the wax is sourced! This means some batches of wax may be more honey-like in scent, some might be sweeter, and some may be earthier.
Because it is a completely natural resource and we source our wax from companies using natural cleaning and extraction procedures, the scent of each batch, sheet, and candle may vary. This is the beauty of working naturally.
If you're making candles at home and you enjoy scented candles, of course you can scent your beeswax candle. We always recommend testing as you go and giving yourself grace while figuring out what works best for you and your candles!
